34th Annual Carlow Arts Festival Exhibition Award
The Éigse Award of €3000 will be presented for the ‘most outstanding work in any medium’ at
the Opening of the Festival on Friday 7th June 2013. The Selection will be exhibited in Visual Centre
for Contemporary Art for three months

Selection by the adjudicator will contain a balance of all genres
The adjudicators will also invite five artists of their own selection to participate in the Open Submission, out of competition.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Entry forms and fees will be accepted on submission day (Carlow 4th May & Dublin 4th & 5th May 2013)
Up to 3 pieces can be submitted per artist but a maximum of 2 works may be selected for exhibition.
All work submitted must have been completed between 2010 and 2013.
Film-based work must be submitted on a DVD in QuickTime file format. We are unable to accept films submitted in any other format.
Work is accepted for exhibition on merit. However, as wall space is limited, overly large scale work may not be selected.
Submitted work must be for sale.
No email submissions will be accepted
An entry fee of €10 is payable (per artwork)
Students are offered a reduced rate of €8 . Your student number must appear on your entry form for this reduction to apply.

All fees are non-refundable
Complete your labels at the same time as completing the details on the entry form to ensure that they correspond.
Labels must be attached at the back of each work, two-dimensional works or underneath/tied to three dimensional works.
Diptychs and triptychs must be clearly labelled (e.g. 1 of 3) with the artist’s name and title of the work on the reverse of each section.
DVD’s must be clearly labelled on both disc and case.
DELIVERING YOUR WORK Dublin or Carlow
Visual Centre for Contemporary Art, Old Dublin Road, Carlow Town, Carlow on Saturday 4th May 2013 between 11am and 5pm.
Dublin 4th May 2013 between 11am – 5pm & Sunday 5th May between 12pm – 4pm to Ebow Art Gallery, 1 Castle Street Christchurch, Co. Dublin
Work submitted must be unwrapped (excepting shrink wrap on frames/card corners).
Ceramics/glass/photographs on dibond may be presented wrapped. Please do not submit very delicate work. Owing to the amount of handling required we cannot guarantee its safety.
All works entered will be viewed by the adjudicators who may decide to accept or reject any work submitted at its sole discretion.
Decisions taken by the adjudicators are final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into under any circumstance.
All artists will be notified of the selection results by 14th May 2013 via email or telephone as specified on your entry form.
COLLECTING YOUR WORK
If unselected your work must be collected from Visual / Dublin on Saturday 18th May 2013 between 11am and 5pm.
Selected works will be exhibited at Visual from 7 June – 7th September 2013. Unsold work can be collected from Visual on Saturday 14 September between 11am and 5pm.
All artworks will be returned on the dates specified ONLY. No works can be collected in the interim.
Carlow Arts Festival will not be responsible for any work that has not been collected on the specified dates.
If you wish your work to be returned by post please include sufficient postage.
If you are unable to collect your work, it is essential that you make arrangements for it to be collected on your behalf. Uncollected works will be subject to a storage fee of €7.50 per week. Work not collected after 4 weeks will become the property of Carlow Arts Festival Éigse to be disposed of or sold as they think fit.
A 30% commission will be taken on work sold. Prices stated on the entry form should include this commission.
Carlow Arts Festival will not be responsible for the failure of completion of a sale whether or not a deposit has been received.
You are strongly advised to insure your own work. Carlow Arts Festival (Éigse) or their carriers will not be responsible for the damage, loss, theft, or accident, of any kind, from any cause, while the works are under the control of Carlow Arts Festival Éigse or in transit whether or not caused by their negligence.
Copyright of all work is the property of the artist. However, Carlow Arts Festival (Éigse) reserves the right to photograph work for publicity purposes.
WITHDRAWAL OF WORKS
Carlow Arts Festival (Éigse) reserves the right to withdraw a work from the exhibition if for any reason the work, or any circumstances surrounding the display of the work, appears to Carlow Arts Festival Éigse to expose it to risk of legal proceedings.
