How to Find Us
VISUAL & The George Bernard Shaw Theatre is situated in Carlow’s town centre, on the grounds of Carlow College complex.
A pedestrian entrance is located on College Street, beside Carlow Cathedral.
The entrance to our car-park is located on the Old Dublin Road, opposite the side-entrance to Carlow Courthouse and before College Street.
Travelling by Car
Carlow town is conveniently located just 5 minutes from/off the M7/M9 Dublin-Waterford motorway. On exiting the Motorway at Junction 4 (signposted xxxx) follow the signs for Carlow, going straight through 3 roundabouts. At the fourth roundabout, located at Dr. Cullen Park GAA grounds, also go straight through it but then take an immediate right signposted Old Dublin Road. Follow the road for approximately 2 miles until you pass St. Leo’s Convent of Mercy Secondary School on the left. The entrance to VISUAL & The GB Shaw Theatre is then a little further on the left also.
Parking
Town Council Pay Parking (including disabled parking) is available immediately inside the grounds at the Old Dublin Road entrance. 3 coach parking spaces are available further on to the right.
Please Note: Parking is free for events after 6:30pm however as parking is limited it is wise to allow plenty of time for parking.
Travelling by Bus
Carlow is well served by bus with both Bus Eireann and JJ Kavanagh Coaches operating frequent services daily.
VISUAL & The George Bernard Shaw Theatre is a 10 minute walk from Carlow Bus Park. On leaving the bus park, go left and walk along Barrack Street, towards Shamrock Plaza. You will pass the entrance to Fairgreen Shopping Centre on your right and Carpenters Lounge on your left. At Shamrock Plaza, turn left onto Tullow Street. Continue on, and you will pass Teach Dolmain Pub on your right and Carlow Library. After Carlow Library immediately turn right onto College Street – we are located 100 metres on the right hand-side. You will pass Carlow Cathedral on your right and the entrance to the VISUAL & George Shaw Theatre is just beside it.
Travelling by Train
The Dublin – Waterford rail line serves Carlow with ten return services on a daily basis Monday - Friday, eight services on Saturday and four services on Sunday.
VISUAL & The George Bernard Shaw Theatre is ideally located just 5 minutes walking distance from Carlow Train Station. On leaving the train station, walk straight ahead, passing St. Mary’s Academy CBS Secondary Boys School on your right. Continue on, and follow the road around to your left passing St. Leo’s Convent of Mercy Secondary School on your left. The entrance to VISUAL & The George Bernard Shaw Theatre is just a little further on your left.
