Open Call

ARTWORKS 2021

  • Deadline 1 April 2021

The Carlow Arts Festival and VISUAL Carlow Annual Open Submission and Art Award.

This year’s ARTWORKS Open Submission invites submissions on the theme of Woman in the Machine by artists who are working at the intersections between art, technology and new media. It invites submissions that respond to our current technological moment and the effect that the evolving digital world is having on life and practice.

ARTWORKS 2021 is open to visual and performing artists; artists making electronic music, large scale sculpture and digitally native projects.

Artists are invited to submit work in any medium for selection. The 2021 exhibition titled Woman and the Machine will be presented in the galleries at VISUAL and at the Braun Factory site in Carlow from June 11th 2021 and online here and at www.carlowartsfestival.com. All artists selected will receive an artist’s fee.

This programme will exist in the galleries at VISUAL, at Braun and on a dedicated website.

The works selected from open call will be part of a larger summer programme of film, talks, performances and electronic music commissions.

Selectors: To be announced soon
