County Carlow Environmental Network (CCEN) are delighted to announce their first Environmental Film Festival at VISUAL. CCEN is a new organisation that aims to empower citizens of Carlow to take action in tackling Climate Change through various positive actions. These films have been selected for their uplifting, solution-focused themes, dealing with various aspects of our current Climate Emergency and are suitable for all ages. Screenings will be free of charge.
For the last in this film series, we will screen two short films that deal with the topic of Climate Change broadly.
The Race is On paints a stark portrait of the current state of global warming, but offers hopeful solutions as it outlines the power we still possess to save our planet. Produced in the UK in 2019, the film offers insights from top climate scientists who describe our current dilemma and provide evidence-based speculations on what might occur if we do nothing in response.
A Drop in the Ocean, produced by Trocaire in 2015, considers Climate Change from an Irish viewpoint. This short documentary talks to some of Ireland’s leading environmental scientists, writers and activists.
Following this final screening, the Environmental Network will lead a conversation considering the entire film series, discussing actions for the future and how you can get involved on a local level to effect positive change.
